BlaBlaCar has been listed on Cleantech Group’s annual Global 100 list. This list compiles the global innovation community’s views on which companies, and which type of companies, are most likely to have a big commercial impact in a 5-10 year time-frame. The list groups together the companies who are doing more, with less. This is a great achievement for BlaBlaCar as this was the first year we have entered the Global Cleantech 100 as an innovator of transportation.
“The concept of Cleantech embraces a diverse range of products, services, and processes across industry verticals that are inherently designed to (a) Provide superior performance at lower costs, (b) Greatly reduce or eliminate negative ecological impact, and (c) improve the productive and responsible use of natural resources” – 2013 Global Cleantech 100 Report, p.8-9
Choosing the 100 began with Phase 1: a long list of 5,864 companies who received nominations from hundreds of experts in Cleantech Group’s worldwide network of market ‘insiders’. Cleantech Group narrowed down the list, using a proprietary scoring system, to have a shortlist of 300 companies. In Phase 2, members of Cleantech Group’s expert panel voted negatively and positively for each of these companies (in terms of innovation, Market and ability to execute), for there to be the final list of 100.
To be a part of Cleantech’s Global 100 is a huge honour for BlaBlaCar and we feel it is proof of our great achievements. Ridesharing is the key to a future of sustainable and environmentally-friendly transportation.
