Tourism is definitley an area that BlaBlaCar partakes in. With over 20 million members worldwide, we connect drivers with empty seats to passengers traveling the same way, from here, there and everywhere!
World Tourism Day was created by the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), with the aim to raise awareness of the benefits of tourism: tourism is vital to the international community, from a social, cultural, political and economic point of view. It has a very important impact on countries and communities around the world, so on the 27th of September, we want to help raise awareness around tourism, as a force for good, creating a better world for all.
A Few Fun Facts about WTD:
- Burkina Faso will host the official celebration in 2015;
- In 2014, international tourism generated $1.5 trillian in export earnings;
- The official hashtags for the day are: #1billiontourists & #WTD2015.
