Meet our BlaBlaStar, Nerav.! A BlaBlaStar is a member of the community who has caught our attention because of their exciting job, their interesting hobbies or for just being generally awesome. Nerav is a TV Developer & Video Editor for Thames Productions and he uses BlaBlaCar to visit his family.

Tell us about your job as a TV Developer & Video Editor

When you’re sat at home watching an incredible TV show and you wonder, “who came up with this idea…its brilliant!”, it’ll be someone like me. I develop new television formats for Thames Productions (Fremantle Media) and then pitch our ideas to all major broadcasters. I’ve been a self-shooting video specialist for the last 8 years, working on projects from all sorts of backgrounds, from filming with incredible athletes like David Hayes to creating documentaries and tutorials with graffiti artists and even editing 3D replays for the Premier League. I’ve been lucky enough to apply my trade to many different distinctions and projects all around the country.

What are your hobbies?

I do loads of random stuff in my spare time. I love to develop my skills so I’m always self-shooting a random project. I recently started looking into mobile development and started playing with the idea of building a game, I got as far as learning the basics of the engine but didn’t get far enough to make something tangible (yet!). It’s definitely a past time I keep dipping in and out of. Recently I’ve become obsessed with micro-controllers and DIY electronics. I’m in the process of building a Quadcopter (one of those Amazon style drones) and it’s become a real passion of mine. I grew up on Hip Hop so one of my favourite things to do is to attend rap battles. I try to head down to events at least once a month, mainly to events run by Dont Flop Ent.

Why did you join BlaBlaCar?

I joined BlaBlaCar as a passenger because all of my family live in Manchester (where I grew up) but I’ve been living in London for the past 8 years. I used to take a train home but the cost of travelling was astronomical. I joined BlaBlaCar for a cheaper and more comfortable journey and that’s exactly what I got. Every driver I’ve met has been extremely friendly, fun to chat with and really considerate, and I’ve made some really cool contacts from PHD Students to Electronic Engineers. I love meeting new people and the BlaBlaCar community is filled with a really cool and interesting bunch.

What do you like about BlaBlaCar?

The ease and affordability of the service, it’s been really simple to use and once you get a journey under your belt it feels like the only option for the future. Meeting new people has been really fun and I love how you can communicate with the driver to find the most convenient meet and drop off point. It’s as good as going door to door and not forking out for a train or a taxi.

Describe BlaBlaCar in 3 words

Affordable, Easy, Exciting.
